Begun in 2013, Bid4papers.com has a business model that positions itself as a clearinghouse for writers. In essence, writers register as free agents with the company, establish a profile, and then bid for orders that students place. The owners state that they have a huge number of writers in every content field and that there are writers with Bachelor’s through PH. D. degrees to take on any type of academic writing need. All writers, of course, are touted as being reliable and experienced. Recently, they have added college-level STEM homework help as well. The focus of Bid 4 Papers is college and grad school needs, although high school students certainly could use the site too.

Our review is based upon factors that are all described and assessed below.

Website Quality

The landing page of the Bid4Papers site begins with an invitation to watch a video. Very rapidly, the process is explained, most of the video focusing on completing the order form and then getting bids. The remainder of this age is divided into two columns that go off on a tangent about non-prescriptive education and a few other topics. The remaining links relate to testimonials, “how it works,” top writers, FAQ, and a blog. We attempted to access each link and read through the information but were initially given the message “Bad Gateway.” Eventually, we had to “backdoor” our way into those links, but this is certainly a big blot on the company. The user interface is critical, and this was a huge distraction.

Quality of Products and Services

To assess quality, we looked beyond the company statements (1500+ writers, degreed and qualified ENL writers, etc.) and sought out customer reviews from other places. Some of the most serious complaints came from posts on the Bid4papers.com social media pages.

• Several customers were demanding refunds for terrible products.
• Some customers complained that their writers were obviously ESL, and the writing was filled with structural and grammatical mistakes.
• Some complained of the lack of responsiveness of the customer support personnel.

We spoke with students who placed an order for a college-level research paper and waited for bids. We received quite a number of them and began to chat with a few to gather information about their backgrounds and degrees. Some of this information was obviously fictitious. One writer told she had graduated from Harvard College in the U.S. (no one calls it “college”). Others claimed legal experience that we found to be disturbing. We finally settled on what we thought was the best writer from the lot.

We received our paper on time, but it was a disappointment. No college student would be able to turn it in as it was — poor grammar and sentence structure and inferior resources.

We contacted Bid 4 Papers customer support (available only via email) and were told to take up all revision requests directly with our writer. We did and received a revision that was not much better than the original.

The concern here is that Bid4Papers.com has a business model that does not provide for quality control of the writers it hires. Further, it does not want to get involved when writers screw up. We have requested a refund — nothing yet.

While we are not ready to state that Bid4Papers is a fraud or scam, there need to be some serious changes made to its procedures, processes, and its writer selection activity.

There is no BBB membership for this company either.

Prices and Discounts

Bid 4 Papers obviously does not have standard prices. Customer waits for bids and selects the writers and prices that are best for them. Given this, no one should expect to see a promo code for a first-time customer or any coupon codes for discounts. The company states that customers and writers can and should negotiate prices.

In terms of payment, things here are pretty standard. Students concerned about secured payment gateways can opt to pay via PayPal. However, it appears as if paying by debit or credit card is relatively safe as well.

Extra Features

There is a blog on the site, and some of the articles are both entertaining and interesting. Beyond this, there are no special features other than the customer can request revisions and that the customer payment, which is held by the company, will not be released until approval is given.

We spent some time reviewing company policy documents. Specifically, we wanted to determine how well they handle the issue of data privacy. Fortunately, this is one area where the company does an excellent job. Students may request that their information be deleted by contacting the data protection officer. The site is also GDPR compliant. There is also significant information provided on cookies and other policies. In fact, these are some of the clearest and most detailed policy pages we have encountered.

Conclusion

We generally list the pros & cons in our conclusion. There are many “cons” — lack of control over backgrounds and credentials of writers, slow responsiveness from customer support, pages that do not always load, and, most important, poor quality in many instances. This business model needs to change, and the business owners need to take a much more active role in their company. Students who have trusted this service have clearly had issues, and have not received much at all in the way of support. We are giving Bid4papers.com a rating of “Poor” and cannot recommend that students use this service.
